Thank you for choosing handmade

A L O H A
Just wanted to take a moment and thank you for supporting handmade {made in the U.S.A.}. Every time someone buys a handmade decal from 3rd Ave Shore, it allows myself to run a passion driven company and happily create swell & ocean inspired wall decals for your pad. Buying handmade is a conscious decision. In my personal life, I support handmade items that come from all over the world because it  supports the many talented people out there who are trying to get started with their business. I find the care and love taken in making everything I buy comes through when I get it. I feel a sense of extra worth and pleasure with each purchase knowing I have helped someone get one step closer to their dream. Supporting each other is after all the most rewarding gift we can give each other.
Here is some insight from SuzyJack {contemporary Eco friendly paper}: Why should one buy handmade?  Because normally, buying handmade does not require fighting for a parking space, having your ears pierced by blaring holiday music, walking around in a daze under fluorescent lights, fighting to push a shopping cart with one bad wheel, or having a cashier you don't know ask for your phone number and zip code.
And one last thing......Because handmade items are what your Great Great Grandma used to buy.
Nicly put :)  Once again, a very warm mahalo (thank you in Hawaiian) for choosing 3rd Ave Shore's handmade wall decalsSam  3rdaveshore.com

Get Inspired & Go for It!

Did you happen to catch the Oscars last night?  Ted and I were in and out of it (basically going from ESPN and back to the awards) but I was so happy to catch (Kirk Baxter) advise his daughter during his acceptance  speech : “To my daughter, Bronte, find something you truly love doing and great things can happen...."
1985 @ Grandma's pool
I just had to smile, because growing up I was always encouraged by my family to do the same...as my mom reminded me often : "Sam, there is nothing you can not do. Thank God everyday for your mind because it is the most powerful organ He gave you."

I hear this in the back of my mind quite often and it has turned into my natural filter when I come across a "no" or when  a thought of "there is no way this will work.."  In the business world.

I encourage Y O U to do the things you most love and everything will fall into place.
3rd Ave Shore was truly built out of a dream.  I always new I wanted to work for myself and produce a quality product from  my love for the sea to the world.  It has grown much bigger then just that now, I am now servicing the community with business storefront designs....and often encouraging other new entrepreneurs "If you build it, they will come." and loving very minute of it.

Trust me you have BIG talents and the rest of us are just waiting patiently to see them bloom :)  May this little blog post awaken the child dreams in you!  Please keep 3rd Ave Shore posted on your progress, I'd  love to design a logo/decal for you for free to help get the word out there about YOUR talents.

Along the way, don't forget to enjoy the ride.....

Kailua Business Store Fronts

Aloha Friday!  I apologize for the interruption in blog use lately.  I looked at the calendar and was like...November???  Really???

Well I'm sure most of can relate to how fast this year has gone by, and a mighty fine one at that!  Wanted  to keep you updated on the fun projects  3rd Ave Shore has done around the island.

Lanikai Bath & Body was so nice to have me come in and re-vamp their store sections. Immediately entering Lanikai Bath & Body you feel so fresh with the smell of local aroma's in the air.  They carry a wonderful variety of all natural body butters, tropical lotions, handmade soaps, and many other island favorites (even have a doggie section!).  Pretty much 3rd Ave Shore put wall words around the store to help the customers get to know their way around better.  The front windows (which are so nice and huge!!) I added their trademark naupaka flower to the front
windows and split it down the middle so it was showcased in a larger way.

Global Village  is located in the heart of Kailua. It is host (or I should say hostess...because it's family owned and operated by a mother & her 2 daughters)   to some great local finds from Hawaii.  They have a jewelry making section in the back, plenty of fun threads, trinkets,  bags and much more!  It is a wonderful place for shopping and you'll be sure to find clothing for women, men and keiki, as well as a huge selection of must-have accessories and gifts.

3rd Ave Shore was  lucky enough to design the front window decals and inspirations wall words around the dressing room area.It was fun to design and great to service such a fun local shop!

Stay posted for our next projects!  Soon to come..Nohea Galleries.

What a surprise!

Aloha everyone! Typically Mondays can be a bit blah, but yesterday's Monday R.O.C.K.E.D! I ran into Kailua's Shore Break Shave Ice truck! It was exciting to see 3rd Ave Shore's decals in action!

A few months back I did some custom artwork (surf and wave decals) for this shave ice truck. Seeing this old postal mail carrier really put me to the test. I loved that I was working with a blank canvas, so I decided that a long wave starting from the back and ending in the front would be perfect! Added some rainbow wording..and ta dah! Here it is!

The idea behind the truck is to be somewhat of an ice cream truck, meaning it's mobile! Shore Break Shave Ice cruises around Kailua selling 25 Ono delicious flavors of shave ice. I had coconut and watermelon yesterday...YUM! Check out their great site (you can even rent it for parties!).
Shorebreak Shave Ice.  A warm mahalo to Dave and Brook for bringing me on board with this fun project, may your business be blessed!

Reduce, Reuse, Refashion.....

3rd Ave Shore is delighted to be working with Cream of The Crop for their new window decals.

A good consignment store is something to tell your friends about, but a great consignment store you almost want to keep to yourself. Let's just say you should count yourself very lucky, that I'm even writing this piece on Cream of The Crop in Casa Grande, AZ.

The designation of a "good" versus a "great" consignment store relys heavily on 3 factors--pieces, prices, and placement. While part of the allure of a consignment store is hunting for bargains, you also don't want to spend hours on end digging through piles of fabric or having your eyes poked out by racks of haphazard hangers.

So how did Cream of The Crop rate?

Placement: Extremely well-organized by category and size, with a special side area's for quality shoes and purses.

Prices: Almost everything I picked up was under $20. Even the designer pieces were very fairly priced and in excellent shape.

Pieces: I don't know where to start--I was like a kid in a candy shop! The first thing I spotted when I walked in were these 2 lovely $1 racks!!! What?? A Dollar?? All the items on the rack were in excellent condition, like new. Get this, the owner even has a tea bar set up in the back, with an extended flavor and herbs selection.

More and more these days we are all trying to save a buck or two, whether it be for economical times or to put away in our vacation savings! I highly recommend stopping by this very cute quality consignment shop if you're ever in Arizona. Thanks you so very much Cream of The crop for allowing 3rdaveshore to design your new window decals.

DIY : Hibiscus decal package

Wow what a weekend......Ted and I cruised and had a chance to have a family day on Sunday with the fam and it was great! Something that came up between the two of us was hobbies. Something personal that we enjoy doing together is bike riding with Gus (our dog-child!).
So that is the inspiration behind this hibiscus diy (do it yourself) decal package. Enclosed is two LARGE hibiscus's and FOUR Half hibiscus's (to give you the look that they are coming out of the wall). You can mix match the colors as well. It really adds a unique painted on look to any room, even offices, churches, nurseries....whateva! Mention this blog post and receive $20 off your order. I hope this will inspire you and someone you enjoy time with to test your skills and spruce some blank walls! Enjoy! Click the pics to order.
